Genre Challenge # 8

Welcome to the new Genre Challenge!
This challenge is a bit different than everything else in that it has two rules:

Response should use the photo prompt given
Response should be in specified genre

The purpose of this challenge is to push ourselves to dip our toes in other genres than we normally write in. The form of writing is up to you.

It doesn’t have to be good!
It doesn’t have to be right!

HAVE FUN WITH IT!

Today’s genre: Western
( fiction set in the American Old West frontier and typically in the late eighteenth to late nineteenth century – Wikipedia)

Sheriff Shortie Nabs The Outlaws

Two outlaws, Stinky Pete and Tom Scarface, were terrorizing the West. They would hold up stagecoaches and mail trains. They would plunder towns and ranches. Sheriffs and their deputies all over had tried to catch them but they remained at large.

They reached the town of Little Springs one day. The sheriff of this town was a man of small stature and was popularly known as Sheriff Shortie. Tom Scarface and Stinky Pete swung open the wooden doors of the town’s only saloon. They robbed all the people insude at gunpoint and also forced the bar tender to give up his day’s earnings.

They stormed the town’s small bank and then the post office. They gathered all the cash and valuables that they could and then stormed off on their horses.

The townspeople were surprised that Sheriff Shortie and his Deputy had set up no resistance. In fact, the two law enforcers were nowhere to be seen.

The two outlaws rode along  a narrow path that led away from the town. As they passed a clump of trees, suddenly two lassoes were thrown around them and they fell off their horses. The Sheriff and his deputy tied them up and took them to jail.

Sheriff Shortie and his Deputy had gone into hiding outside the town ever since they had realized that the outlaws were entering their town. The short statured sheriff had managed to capture the thugs who had outwitted the law enforcers of the whole state.
