QQ: What Prompts You?

A nice simple and easy question [s] … what prompts you?

Rory asked questions about prompts. I felt I could not do justice to them in his comments section so I decided to do a whole post.

QQ: What Prompts You?

1] What prompts do you offer on your blogs to your readerships?

Currently none, but I am thinking of taking the plunge and starting one.

2] What prompts do you like to see on the blogs you visit?

I enjoy word prompts as well as picture prompts. The ones with word limits are a little difficult for me as I tend to get carried away when I start writing. But I think that discipline is good for me so I will try to do more of those.

3] Why do you like the prompts that you do as in what prompts you to respond?

In my case, this is entirely subjective. When a prompt “speaks” to me I can get a post done really quickly.

Sometimes it is the challenge in the prompt that elicits a response. When I launched my blog, I had no intention of writing poetry or fiction, but the various prompts I came across prompted me to dabble in these and I made categories for both .

I really enjoyed the Genre Writing Challenge by Theresa, The Haunted Wordsmith. Writing in a new genre every day was a lot of fun. I wanted to do them all but could not keep up. This challenge made me write about things I had never done before such as Space Opera or The Wild West.

4] When you are thinking of creating a prompt what motivates you to do so?

I am not clear on this question :

If it means creating a prompt for others to do, then I would think of a topic most bloggers would enjoy.

If, however, this means responding to a prompt and creating a blog post, I usually pick those that I can relate to in some way.

But additionally, l would like you to display in your answers some of the blogs you visit and the prompts you respond to.

The following are the blogs I visit quite regularly and the prompts I often respond to:

A Guy Called Bloke and K9 Doodlepip

Light Motifs II

The Haunted Wordsmith

This, That and the Other with Fandango

Tales from the mind of Kristian

Three Things Challenge,

Genre Challenge,

FOWC with Fandango

word of the day challenge

Blog series questions

QQ

And many others.
