#SoCS July 20/19 — Frame

I was really irritated by my glasses. Attracted by a new frame I had impulsively ordered two new pairs in different colours. Then I made the further mistake of picking them up from the optician without checking if they fit properly.

Casting my irritation aside I picked up the Sunday paper. On weekdays I give newspapers a wide berth but on Sundays I skim though them over a leisurely breakfast.

The headlines showed the bust up of a narcotics ring. There were pictures of the culprits and I thought one woman looked familiar. She was the one most vehemently protesting her innocence saying she had been framed.

I looked up from the paper to my high school graduation photograph that stood in a silver frame on the mantelpiece. After looking long and hard I realised that the “framed” lady in the drug bust was my former classmate.

She used to be an honest and upright person when I knew her many decades ago. But people do change and given the time frame she could be a completely different kind of person now. On the other hand she may still be as good a person as she used to be in school.

Now I am on the horns of a dilemma. I must frame a question for my conscience. Do I try to help her or do I take the easy way out and ignore the situation?

Tell me, what would you have done under the circumstances?

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “frame.” Use it as a noun or a verb or any way you like. Have fun!
