An upbeat personality, outlook, or way of thinking is the best thing to have. It makes you look at your cup as half full instead of half empty. You face the day to day problems life throws at you with easy grace. Your positivity radiates around you spreading to all those you come across.
It is not that upbeat people have no problems or worries. They have their fair share like everyone but the way they look at them is what makes all the difference. Today I saw on TV a war veteran who had suffered burns to three fourths of his face. This man was so grateful for the disfiguring scars on his face. Some of the men with him had lost a limb and he was grateful that had not happened to him. His attitude of gratitude really impressed me.
Being positive and optimistic is not neccessarily an inborn attribute, although to many people it comes naturally. Like all life skills it can be learned and perfected till it becomes a reflex.
I try my best to practise what I write about. All my life, my personality has been variable. At times I have been very positive, but at times less so. As I grow older, I try to practise an attitude of optimism and positivity most of the time. I am glad to say that I can keep it up nine times out of ten. Sometimes my “upbeatness” slips and crabbiness tries to surface, but I am geting there.
