5 Things I Like About Myself

Sadje of KeepItAlive has begun this great new tag. It is about listing 5 things you like about yourself. You can read her original post here.

Here is my list:

1. My smile

I have been told often that I have a smiling face and I am rather proud of that. My smile is a gift from my mother. I must have been “scowlie” as a kid for she would often urge me to smile more. “A smile is half your success” she used to tell me.

2. My ability to write

Ever since I could read, I have wanted to write. School essays never seemed like work to me and I used to earn top grades in English Composition without any effort at all. This flair for writing helped me later in my scientific writing too. Once I had all the data and references, writing a research paper was no problem at all.

3. Seeing the silver lining

One of my talents that I find very useful is seeing my cup as half full instead of half empty. Contrary to what many may think, this works out as very practical since it keeps me from despair. It’s not that I am never frustrated or disgruntled (I am only human) but I am quick to remember my strengths.

4. Not giving up

I am quite tenacious, not giving up easily on myself or others. I subscribe to the concept “if at first you don’t succeed try, try, try again”

5. My sense of humour

Luckily, I can see the funny side of most things. The ablility to laugh at things including my own shortcomings makes life so much more worth living.

  1. I came across your blog after visiting Sheree at hers. 🙂 These 5 things I like about myself posts are encouraging. In this day and time of people constantly feeling less than due to toxic pressures in culture – we need more awareness of our actual beauty. The beauty that never fades and the only one that truly matters – our unique God given personalities and gifts!

The traits you listed here are absolutely wonderful and admirable. A kind smile has the power to literally change lives. I can’t think of how many times someone’s smile lifted my spirits on a down day or vice versa. It’s a beautiful gift to give and receive! I also love your ability to see the silver lining. Keeping your spirits high, even in the face of adversity, is indeed a powerful gift. It saves you from a ton of unnecessary pain in this life.

Thank you for sharing this. I love your blog and will continue to visit! Have a beautifully blessed day! 💕 ~ Holly
