Blogging Insights # 23 — Blogging during the Pandemic

The Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemichas changed life as we knew it. The new routines and new norms have changed every aspect of our lives. Today we explore how this crisis has affected our blogging/writing. QUESTIONS 1.How has the Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic affected your blogging ? Are you posting more or less than you used to? 2.What is the tone of your posts these days, happy, sad , serious, worried? 3.Have you written any posts specifically about the crisis and its effect on your life? If so, please share a link? 4.What kinds of posts do you like to read these days?   MY ANSWERS   1.How has the Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic affected your blogging ? Are you posting more or less than you used to? With my city in lockdown for the past ten days now, I am at home more than I used to be and I am making a conscious effort to post more as I mentioned in an earlier post which you can read here. I used to do a lot of my blogging on the go in my daily life : while commuting or waiting etc. That is no longer so since my trips out of the house are far fewer.      2.What is the tone of your posts these days, happy, sad , serious, worried? I like to keep the mood light in my posts and over my blog in general. Before I changed it a few months ago, my byline was “A light hearted look at life.” I have reiterated this in mmy About page too. These days, however, my posts are bordering on “serious and deeper”  as opposed to “lighter” and “light hearted”. It is very natural in this global crisis that we are going through, for us to feel more serious and apprehensive and this reflects in our writing too. However worried or stressed ot I might be feeling I try to stay positive in my writing. This somewhat enforced “cheeriness” is unwelcome to some who don’t like so-called “wake up and smell the roses in the pandemic kind of posts.” It has always been my contention that you can live through difficult times with a positive outlook or a negative one. Why not stay positive and upbeat– the hardship might be easier to bear.      3.Have you written any posts specifically about the crisis and its effect on your life? If so, please share a link? It is difficult to NOT write something about the pandemic since we are living and breathing it all the time. It is the elephant in the room that cannot be ignored. I have written two or three posts specifically with regard to the Coronovirus/COVID-19 crisis, I will share a couple of links here. https://saltedcaramel670.wordpress.com/2020/03/31/working-from-home-and-caring-for-children-during-coronavirus-covid-19-lockdown-some-easy-tips-tricks/ https://saltedcaramel670.wordpress.com/2020/03/27/unsung-heroes-of-the-coronavirus-covid-19-battleground/     4.What kinds of posts do you like to read these days? All kinds ! But generally upbeat and light hearted ones. Lots of people are posting journal-type pieces of how they are carrying on with their daily lives these days; it is interesting to read these. This is a good time to brush up on blogging skills so I plan to read posts and watch videos about that too.       Okay! That was my bit. Now I am really looking forward to reading YOUR answers. Please remember to tag your post # blogginginsights, and leave a link in my comments section too.

  1. Hi Tanya, I think we might have “met” via Fandango’s blog. Just on your first question, I think it is a good idea to post at least daily at the moment, just because regardless of the post contents, what we are also saying is “I am well enough to be faffing around on WP”. It is a small thing, but I think people do worry when they don’t hear from someone for a while. As for content…I even posted the view down my street the other day!

    1. I totally agree with you. Posting daily these days lets folks know we are okay.
I think it also tells ourselves that we’re alright and that we are doing something positive while we “wait it out”
Its good to meet you again. 🌻
      Thanks for visiting 💐

  2. 1.How has the Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic affected your blogging ? Are you posting more or less than you used to?
I’m posting more or less the same volume, though every day I am doing a specific diary type post and wishing everyone to keep safe and well with our Keep Safe Rainbow .

2.What is the tone of your posts these days, happy, sad , serious, worried?
I try to keep it light. I’m not afraid to admit I’m worried or frightened as to what is happening and know there are a lot of people who feel the same. I try to keep upbeat, practical and sensible, perhaps with a bit of humour thrown in as it can’t hurt.

3.Have you written any posts specifically about the crisis and its effect on your life? If so, please share a link?
Not exactly on the crisis itself, only shopping trips, observations, and opinions, though I did quote figures in this one

4.What kinds of posts do you like to read these days?
Still a variety of whatever comes into my reader. There are a lot of the A to Z Challenges filling it up at the moment!

    Keep safe and take care.
