Party of One – A Poem for the Pandemic

Is there a point?

In arranging fresh flowers,

Polishing the furniture,

Plumping the cushions,

Laying out mixed nuts in silver filigree dishes

And canapes on platters of fine bone China.

For no one comes.

But I am here,

Why don’t I enjoy it?

Both as guest,

And as host
