Questions:

In your opinion, does patriotism require the belief that one’s country is the greatest on earth?

I don’t think so. You can love your country without feeling that it is the greatest place on earth. Just as we love people “warts and all” we can be attached to our country despite any flaws. With due apology, I feel that thinking one”s country is the greatest on earth is a bit of tunnel vision.

Why is patriotism considered by some to be the highest of virtues? What is so important about love of country? Shouldn’t we be more concerned about humankind, or the planet as a whole, rather than a single country?

When it is a question of defending your borders, patriotism has to be the greatest virtue. Otherwise, humanity ,our planet and its environment deserve our love.

What is the relationship between decisions and consequences?

Decisions have consequences.

What is social justice?

Social justice in my opinion is the provision of equal opportunities to all without discrimination on the basis of gender religion or race. I haven’t looked up the actual definition though.

and one ‘easy’ one because those others? Fairly difficult.

Yes today’s questions were fairly difficult since they involved serious issues.

What’s one body part you wouldn’t mind losing? (told you. Silly).

Not so silly. Since I am a doctor , I will give you a scientific answer : I wouldn’t mind losing my appendix since it has no useful function in the body but it can cause problems if inflamed.

What is something that made you smile during the past week?

Someone I know has just had a baby . Although we have not visited due to social distancing , the first time parents keep sharing the little guy’s photos and they are guaranteed to make me smile.
