The 5 Things tag keeps surfacing on WordPress. I am not sure who first thought of it but I have always found it fun to do. I thought “Why not make it a weekly feature?”

5 Favourite Summer Desserts
I know that most of you will say that ice cream is your favourite summer dessert. But ice cream is a summer staple food. It forms the base of many sweet treats as you can see here. So I am including desserts other than ice cream in my list.
Frozen yoghurt

Fro-yo is possibly the next best thing after ice cream. These days it ranks even higher in my estimation. When low fat and sugar free, it becomes quite low calorie but still packs a lot of calcium. Like ice cream, you can top it with other goodies.
Ice lollies

I don’t think anything says summer more than ice lollies or popsicles. What would summer afternoons or days at the beach be without them. As a child, my favourite flavour was cola but now I prefer my ice lollies to have real fruit.
Tiramisu (non alcoholic)

This lovely creamy coffee flavoured treat is a lovely ending to holiday meals. It’s good on its own as a snack any time of the day.

Peach melba

Though all fruit is luscious combined with ice cream, peaches are particularly dear to my heart.

Fruit salad

Chilled fruit combos are the easiest summer dessert to put together. It doesn’t hurt that they are the healthiest too.
What are your favourites?
I am longing to find out.
Great list! Mine would be 1. Fruit salad 2. Raspberries, or any mix of red and black berries 3. Fruit soup 4. Sorbet 5. Granita

Granita was on my original list but I couldn’t find a nice picture.
I love strawberry granita and all your other choices.
I am not too clear on fruit soup though.

Often made with melon or red fruits. It’s cooling and delicious.

But fairly tedious to make at home if you are doing it by hand.

Not if you have a liquidiser or food processor

Oh. I never tried it with that.
I only made it one time when I froze the mixture in a pan and then broke it up at intervals with a fork.
I thought you needed an electric granita machine.machine
