5 Favourite Sandwiches

The 5 Things tag keeps surfacing on WordPress. I am not sure who first thought of it but I have always found it fun to do. I thought “Why not make it a weekly feature?”

If you participate in a post of your own please tag it #5things.

Here is my contribution to this week’s 5 Things :

The 4th Earl of Sandwich knew what he was about in 1762, when he invented the convenience food that we know today as the sandwich. As the story goes, he was playing cards and did not want to leave the gaming table to eat. He asked for a serving of roast beef to be placed between two slices of bread so he could eat with his hands.

Sandwiches fit right into the fast paced lifestyles of the 20th(later half) and 21st centuries. It is no wonder that they exist in manyvarietues. Today we ask you to list your top five favourites.

Monte Carlo Sandwich

I don’t have a picture for this one since it is a memory from my childhood. One summer holiday in the north of my country, we used to frequent a restaurant that had a special called the Monte Carlo sandwich which we had nearly every day. It was a slice of bread covered with chopped boiled egg and potato and then dipped in beaten egg and deep fried.

I would love to read about your 5 facourite sand wiches too.

Just restrict yourself to sandwiches made with sliced bread.

I know that burgers, subs, heros etc are technically sandwiches too but I want to do a 5 favourite burgers post later.
