5 Favourite Special Occasion Cakes

What better way to celebrate a special occasion than with a special cake. Birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, promotions, graduations etc are all excuses to celebrate. When there is no special occasion you can still beat the doldrums with a fancy cake. Here are 5 of my favourites:

Carrot cake

Carrot cake is not really a celebration cake but I have put it at the top of the list as it is my favourite . It tastes great on it’s own but a cream cheese frosting can take it to the next level.

Cheese Cake

There are many different kinds of cheese cake. Those with a digestive base , a thick layer of lemony cream cheese filling and fruit topping are good for festive occasions. It is a great finale for a celebration dinner.

Caramel crunch cake

For quite some time the caramel crunch cake occupied pride of place in my family ‘s celebration.  With pieces of hardened caramel sandwiched between the layers and sometimes places on the top, a cake this sweet should be reserved for special occasions.

Dark chocolate fudge cake

Only yesterday we celebrated my youngest’s A level grade with a dark chocolate fudge cake. There is something in chocolate that matches effusiveness, the darker the better.

I have left the most luscious to the last. This cake makes any moment special. I wrote about it in some detail in a previous post. You can read it here

Okay , those were my favourites. Now I would love to read yours’.

You can list them in my comments section.

Better still , create a post of your own. Just remember to tag it

  1. This just made my mouth water. Good thing (or unfortunate?) there’s no cake I can reach to at the moment. But my hubby just went out and bought some, i think😅
