Blogging Insights 45# Ambience

Some people can write anytime and anywhere. Others require certain pre-requisites such as the appropriate setting before they can get their creativity going. In today’s Blogging Insights we discuss the necessity or otherwise of the right ambience for blogging.

TODAY’S QUESTIONS:

What , in your opinion, is the perfect ambience for blogging / writing?

Are you able to work in this setting on a daily basis?

Do you feel that the ambience has any particular effect on the quality or quantity of your output?

MY ANSWERS:

What , in your opinion, is the perfect ambience for blogging / writing?

My “perfect” ambience is my back veranda. It overlooks the garden which has big trees (it’s an old house) so we get lots of birds. I love to sit and work here whenever I can with the birds chirping in the background and lots of foliage to look up to from time to time. Since the wifi modem is placed close by there are no signal issues either.

Are you able to work in this setting on a daily basis? Where do you do most of your blogging / writing ?

If wishes were horses, beggars would ride. No, I can hardly ever get to work in my ideal (and idyllic) setting. Looking after my family these days, i am constantly shunting between my own house and my parents’ place with a few stints out of town in the past month. I blog whenever and wherever I can.

Before the pandemic, I was doing a lot if commuting and would end up for long periods in the car (with someone else driving) and would mostly blog on my phone. Since blogging  has only “hobby status” in my life so I fit it in with all the things that I do. Doctors and dentists’ waiting rooms when I am accompanying a family member, give me lots of time to blog. I have even been known to add to a draft while i am standing in line at a check out counter.

Do you feel that the ambience has any particular effect on the quality or quantity of your output?

Yes and No.  Writing in my ideal setting would make me want to  work more so you could say I would produce more quantity. If there is an idea that I want to write about, the particular setting will have no affect on how I develop it. The quality of my work would probably be the same in  variable settings. However, I find it much easier to add images to my posts on my laptop so posts that are more visual are better done when I am not on the go.

There were people who could only write in a coffee shop but the pandemic has made them stay home. I am sure they have not given up blogging.  Other people say they can only work at their desk at home; again they would probably be able to write just as well elsewhere if forced to.

Okay, that was my contribution.

Now i would love to read your opinion.

You could leave them in my comments section.

Better still, why not write a post of your own?

Just remember to tag it
