5 Things : Fall Favourites

The 5 Things tag keeps surfacing on WordPress. I am not sure who first thought of it but I have always found it fun to do. I thought “Why not make it a weekly feature?”

If you participate in a post of your own please tag it #5things.

Here is my contribution to this week’s 5 Things :

Colour

Jewel bright earth tones are perhaps the best thing about fall. The pinks and yellows of spring just cannot compare.

Falling Leaves

Leaves falling to earth one by one , rustling in a soft breeze or thrown about with strong gusts of wind give fall its name. I can sit and watch them like one watches a movie.

Apples

I love apples, all kinds and all colours. Crunchy, juicy, sweet and tart : a healthy snack as they are or made into tarts, pies, jam and other goodies.

Crunching leaves underfoot

When my kids were little , one of our favourite fall activities used to be the crunching of dry leaves. On nature walks, we would have great fun stepping on heaps of fallen leaves so that they yielded a satisfying crunching sound. We used to call this game “crunchie”.

Trees

Somehow, trees seem to look prettier in autumn than they do in spring or summer. It probably has to do with the different colours of trees in the fall as compared to the green of earlier seasons.
