Evergreen content is content that continues to be relevant long past its publication so that it always remains sustainable and fresh. Topical, or timely content has relevance and significance for a limited period of time.
TODAY’S QUESTIONS:
Evergreen or Topical content, which do you prefer writing?
Which do you write most often?
Which of these adds more value or engagement to your blog?
MY ANSWERS:
Evergreen or Topical content, which do you prefer writing?
This is not so easy to answer since writing only for my own amusement, my preference keeps changing over time. I love writing about personal development and food related topics; these can be classed as evergreen. On the other hand, if I feel strongly about a current trend or problem I will prefer writing about that. Good examples would be posts I wrote about the COVID-19 pandemic and the tragic George Floyd incident.
Which do you write most often?
On balance, the number of my evergreen posts far outweighs my posts on current topics.
Which of these adds more value or engagement to your blog?
I am afraid I have not been very cognizant of my blog statistics. I hardly ever check how well my posts perform with regard to traffic. Topical content definitely draws in more readers. However, I feel that evergreen posts by definition keep drawing readers long past their date of posting.
Okay guys, that was my bit. Now I would love to read your views.

I think they would be for those bloggers who do not write for “business” purposes.
Glad you feel the same as I do. 🐈

Here’s my thoughts on the questions: https://sparksfromacombustiblemind.com/2020/11/09/blogging-insights-11-9-2020/
Like you, I rarely check my statistics, so I have no idea. If someone comments on an older post is the only way I’ll know someone’s read it after it originally aired. Makes me think more about organization of my material actually. Quite thought provoking questions! Thanks Dr. Tanya!

When I first started blogging I wrote more topical stuff than evergreens. But as time has gone on I write mostly evergreen posts as I continue my journey through my life with MS. At first I didn’t want to write about it but to keep it at a distance. I soon realised that this was not going to be possible, so the more I included it, the more evergreen my posts became. I now still get likes and comments from posts I wrote months ago. I guess my answer would definitely be evergreen.

It seems that you are doing the best blogging practice i.e. posting evergreen content.
