No colleagues arranged a surprise party in the Conference Room
Everyone is working from home.
No friends called round to take me partying,
They’re all staying safe at home.
There’s no family celebration with cake and crackers,
So many are in quarantine and isolation.
I am resigned to my fate
As I blow out a solitary candle on a small cupcake.
Maybe next year things will be different
And the world will be back to normal.
Note — No matter how much I try to keep this horrible pandemic out of my thoughts, it manages to creep into almost every post. Sorry guys, it’s not really my fault. It’s just a sign of the times

How can the pandemic not sneak into our minds and writing? We are surrounded by it. But this scenario is true for many. Thanks for joining in Tanya

Thank you so much.
The pandemic is at the top of our thoughts so I guess it’s quite natural that it seeps into our writing.

This was fiction.
My birthday was in May and luckily I had all my family around me.
