Fandango’s Provocative Question #99

This week’s provocative question was suggested by Pete over at Mr. Bump, and it’s a goodie. Pete wants to know…

What do you think are the three most pressing issues facing us today?

Humanity has always been faced with “issues”, problems that need to be addressed, things that need improving. But they cannot all be solved at once so hence the need to prioritise. In FPQ 99, Fandango asks us to do just that.

The COVID-19 Pandemic

The current pandemic is at the top of most people’s thoughts these days and I am no exception. Try as I might, I cannot keep references to COVID-19 from creeping into nearly every post that I write these days. The personal and global repercussions of this worldwide scourge are affecting every aspect of life, financial/professional as well as social.

Environmental Pollution

With the world’s population expanding and man making up yet more ways to use up the earth’s reserves, environmental pollution is a very big issue. Some years ago, the world’s less developed and poorer nations did not realise what an important issue this was . They continued to use methods that cost less in terms of money but took a heavy toll on the environment. Additionally, some developed nations moved polluting industries to the Third World keeping there own atmosphere clean. With climate change and poor air quality prevalent worldwide and dwindling natural resources , these problems are affecting everyone.

Discrimination

There is a lot of prejudice, discrimination and hatred in the world today. Despite being so-called civilised, 21st century humans are persecuting many of there own kind on the basis of religion, race and politics.
