TODAY’S QUESTIONS

How organised are you when it comes to blogging? Do you have a blog schedule or do you play it by the ear?

How often do you’ tidy up’ your blog? e.g. go through your Drafts Folder, or go through old posts checking for broken links etc.?

MY ANSWERS

How organised are you when it comes to blogging? Do you have a blog schedule or do you play it by the ear?

My blog is coming close to completing its third year (I started posting in January 2018) . I have worked mainly with a ” take it as you go along ‘ policy. I did try to implement a Blog Schedule for a month once or twice but could never keep it up. Since I blog entirely for my own pleasure this has never been a problem.

A couple of weeks ago, however, I decided that it is time that I made a schedule for the two series that I run , Blogging Insights on Monday and 5 Things on Tuesday. The reason for this is that I was busy a few times and missed installments of either series once or twice. I have a handful of good friends who participate in both series regularly and they felt the absence. This really encouraged me to resolve to be regular and punctual , hence the schedule.

As they say, “The road to hell is paved with good intentions”, let’s see how long I stick to my schedule — I planned it for December and January in one siting and I am only tweaking it slightly as I go along. In the end the schedule just might save me some time and energy.

What. me, tidy up? That is something that happens hardly ever (although I believe in principle that this is something that should be done at regular well spaced intervals).

I read somewhere that you should update your About Page every so often. I honestly intended doing this but when I read through it I found that there was not really anything that I wanted or needed to change in my About page.

My drafts folder is huge at any given time. I make drafts of any new ideas I have about blog posts. In addition, I keep making drafts of more prompts than I can ever complete. Last week I did something that I am very proud of : I went through my drafts and deleted all unfinished prompts so that I have a total of just —– sitting there waiting.

Okay ! That was my bit. Now I am longing to hear about your organising habits.
