Blogging Insights Rebooted– Hiatus

Today I am resuming blogging after a six week hiatus. So I thought it would be a good idea to make this the topic of today’s discussion.

Have you ever taken a hiatus from blogging?

During my blogging journey there  have been intervals when I have not posted anything but these never lasted more than a week to ten days. Even during these periods I did not go completely  off radar but continued to read and comment on other people’s post. This time I am back after a complete absence from the blogosphere, not having posted, read or commented for nearly six weeks. 

Do you think that it is necessary to announce/declare the hiatus?

If you are running a prompt or series, I feel it is absolutely essential to announce that you are not going to be around on the expected date or time so as not to let down people who are following them. I host two prompts : Blogging Insights on Mondays and 5 Things on Tuesdays. It was important, therefore, to let my readers know that I would not be around for some time.

Did your blog “suffer” from the hiatus?

Not really. As I was not posting, I did not expect any visits or views on my blog. To my surprise, people did read my previous work and even left likes and comments. I was fortunate in that some people began to follow my blog during this time.
