I must confess that in the majority of Agatha ‘s books I did not manage to guess “whodunnit “. The Murder of Roger Ackroyd is one of those where the solution left me completely flabbergasted. The technique used in this book shows Agatha at her best.
The setting is the sleepy little village of Kings Abbott that Hercule Poirot has chosen to spend his retirement in. The story is narrated by his neighbour Dr. Shepard who knows all the residents and therefore gives us very good descriptions.
Murder follows suicide and blackmail. All is unravelled by Monsieur Poirot with a very surprising twist at the end. For those who have not read it, a treat awaits , for this is one of Agatha ‘s best works
