How long have you been blogging? Can you remember the first blogging award you received?
Do you still accept blogging award nominations or is yours an award free blog? If your blog is award free, what are your reasons for this?
MY ANSWERS
How long have you been blogging? Can you remember the first blogging award you received?
In a previous post I wrote that I had been blogging for over two years. I just did a quick calculation and realised that it has been exactly three years and four months. When I first launched my blog and started visiting other blogs I used to be really impressed by bloggers receiving awards. I thought these were awards of merit conferred on these talented beings by some authority. Later I found out that these were gifts and nominations from other bloggers and that the only “authority” on the blogosphere is other bloggers and readers.
As I progressed in my blogging journey I found out how meritorious the good opinion of other bloggers was and, of course, I still coveted those awards. I remember quite well I received my first award although I have forgotten which kind soul nominated me. It was the Sunshine Blogger Award and I was over the moon to receive it. I went around with a spring in my step and a 100 watt smile on my face.
Do you still accept blogging award nominations or is yours an award free blog? If your blog is award free, what are your reasons for this?
For the first six months I was very excited to be nominated for more awards. I loved answering the “awarder’s” questions and making up questions of my own for my nominees. The part about linking to nominees and notifying them about their award was rather tedious and time consuming but I didn’t mind.
I was a trifle miffed to find that some of my “awardees” did not respond as their blogs were award free. As my blog and blogging activities grew I discovered that I could either respond to the awards or write my own posts, I couldn’t manage time for both.
I used to enjoy answering the award questions, however, especially the questions about blogging. This was partly the inspiration for this Blogging Insights series.
I have not declared my blog “Award Free” yet but find that I cannot manage to respond to my “award givers” most of the time. Probably for this reason I have stopped receiving them.
What is your “award experience “? I would love to know in my comments section or in a post of your own. Please remember to tag it #blogginginsights
I haven’t mentioned this earlier, but I got infected with COVID-19 in the first week of April. I am fine now but still get fatigued and lethargic sometimes. This is why Blogging Insights is late this week. Sincere apologies!
Glad you have recovered from Covid , for the most part. Take care of yourself.

Good luck with Covid! That’s truly awful news, and I’m glad you have begun to recover. Take it slow to ensure you get well that much quicker!
