I am not a fan of Stephen King because the horror genre does not interest me. Writing tips and advice from him can be found abundantly on the Internet. This has made me keen to read his book On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft. The following quote really speaks to me :
“Writing did not save my life, but it has continued to do what it always has done. It makes my life a brighter and more pleasant place.”
― Stephen King, On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft

I have always enjoyed writing almost as much as reading. At school, while other kids groaned over essays, I loved writing them. As a young adult, I wrote a weekly article for the magazine section of a national newspaper.
For twenty five years of my life, the only writing I ever did was academic including research papers, a dissertation and a thesis. Then I launched this blog in 2018 and started writing for pleasure again. I agree with Stephen King, it does make my life brighter.
