QUESTIONS This week is a philosophical (chewy) question week.
In your opinion, what should be humanity’s goal?
Humanity ‘s goal should be A BETTER WORLD. I think this encompasses both a better planet and a better human race.
Are you hesitant to speak your opinions?
This varies with the particular situation :
When I feel that people are not receptive to my opinion or my opinion may cause unpleasantness , I will think twice before sharing it. You might find my attitude cowardly but I feel that life is too short to waste my breath in futility.
Where I feel that my opinion will be valued or will do some good I do not hesitate to share it. In fact, I greatly value the people who value my opinion.
In what ways has society changed during your lifetime? What do you think caused these changes?
My generation has seen far greater and much more rapid change than any previous one. The reason for this is the exponential advances in technology and artificial intelligence . Sadly, there is no code of ethics accompanying all the progress. Sociologists have begun to realise the implications of this too late when most of the damage has been done. A glaring example is social media. Many psychiatric disorders (even suicide) have resulted from the difference between real life and its depiction on Facebook or Instagram.
If you had a friend who spoke to you in the same way that you sometimes speak to yourself, how long would you allow this person to be your friend?
I used to be very hard on myself and would not have allowed a friend to speak to me the way I spoke to myself. Now I am much kinder to myself. I no longer berate myself for wrong decisions or insufficient productivity. I therefore welcome friends who speak to me like I speak to myself.
GRATITUDE SECTION (as always, optional)
Please feel free to share your moments of gratitude here. 🙂
Since we are on the topic of friends, I am taking this opportunity to express gratitude for and to my friends. My friends in the real world and in the blogosphere make my life much brighter. Thank you for being there for me.
Thanks Melanie for these thought provoking questions.
