TODAY’S QUOTE:
Gary Vaynerchuk
“What you do after you create your content is what truly counts.
MY THOUGHTS:
Whether or not you agree with today’s quote depends on the kind of blog you have. It also matters what your blogging goals are.
If you have a business blog or if you are trying to increase the readership and following of your blog Gary’s comment holds very true. In blogging advice posts and videos you might have come across this : ” Content is King. Blog promotion is Queen”. Promotion is what you do after you have created your content and that , in my opinion, is the message of today’s quote.
In my national language, Urdu, there is a saying which loosely translated means, ” If a peacock spreads its fan and dances in the depth of the forest, who will see it?” This , I believe, is the premise of today’s quotation. For your content to be a success i. e. read and commented upon , it must be out there.
Another quote says, ” If you build it, they will come.” I don’t think so. If they don’t know where to go, how will they cone?
What is your view? Do let me know in my comments section or in a post of your own .

It’s not that I don’t agree with what you’ve written, I do. However, my purpose in blogging isn’t per se to gain followers so I don’t, and won’t, actively promote my blog.

I agree with you Sheree. When I launched my blog I linked it to my Twitter account and tried to promote it actively.
Four years down the line, gaining followers and traffic does not seem so important so I’ve let blog promotion slide.

An interesting question, I blog (I have 2) for the fun of it and actively promote 1 of the 2. The one I promote I do mainly be commenting on other blogs and make sure my vlog is included when I “register” to comment, but that si all the promoting I do. The other blog is mainly for sharing with FB friends but I didnt make it personal because if others want to follow – by all means.

Open to an awful amount of interpretation even by Gary Vaynerchuk standards who l was a student of for a couple of years between 2017 – 2019. I think even he might suggest that whilst content is indeed King, so too is Marketing and branding – be that for a personal or a professional blog. Each blogger/writer is the brand for their blog, they are the promoter.
What do you do after you create your content? You engage with your market through interaction and at the same time promote your content but do it sensibly and not manicly. Choose your supportive platforms correctly and wisely, hand pick your audience and sell everything you do to them. Make them feel special. After all be your blog personal or business you still need your readers to engage with you.

I’ve never done much promoting. I probably should do more, but I refuse to use Facebook and I only use Twitter to post little blog promos. I could do more, but I lost a lot of momentum after I crossed into a million hits. I felt like I could FINALLY relax. And also, life began to change. Garry and I are ten years older than when I started this. I don’t want to spend all my time on the computer anymore. Some, absolutely. I need to write as much as I need to breathe. But unlike breathing, I don’t need to do it 24/7. Garry needs more of my attention than he did because he’s older and I have come to realize that I also want to leave some space to not only write, but also read — and not just blogs, but books. As it is, there’s not enough hours in a day to get everything done. How did I ever find the time to actually go to work?
