MY THOUGHTS:
I have said this before– my blog posts begin as conversations in my head. You, the reader, “hear” what I have to say and give your feedback in my comments section. When I reply to your comment, you might make a further observation. Other people can join in, sharing their feelings and views.
The so-called comments thread that is established in this way often becomes more valuable than the original post. Small wonder then, that comments are added to the word count of a post for purposes of that mythical creature : SEO.
In my opinion, this is what today’s quote means. What do you think? I would love to know.

I am inclined to agree. I beieve most bloggers, blog because they want to have their work read and to engage with others. I follow one blog that does not permit “likes” or “comments.” I view them as a commercial site, there is nothing social or compelling to me.

No pun intended but I think the writing is on the wall. When you have a get together and everyone is having their head down on their phones with someone else and not in the group conversation is nil. Being alone in a waiting room, the phone is handy to keep you company but when you’re in a group or out in public with strangers that it would be nice to just smile and talk to, it’s impossible because everyone is on their phone. I think it’s disturbing and I think the art of conversation in itself is dead.

It really isn’t as true as it was. Not even with the “youngsters.” I remember when my granddaughter was immersed in her phone ALL the time. But she isn’t anymore and neither are her friends. Times really are changing. All this stuff isn’t so “new” anymore. It’s not as exciting as it used to be and in the future it will be even less exciting.

I believe it largely depends on the type of blog and the intent of the blogger. Some posts are definitely made with the intent of being conversation starters. Other posts, however, are simply put out there to put the author’s thoughts into physical form for others to do with as they wish. If conversation happens, great! But it isn’t always the main focus.
