F P Q #189 – Elon Musk and Twitter

Whether or not you have a Twitter account, how do you feel about Musk’s takeover of Twitter and the changes he’s made so far. Do you care one way or the other? If you currently are on Twitter, do you plan to continue actively using it?

I have a Twitter account but I haven’t logged on to it in eons. Even though I don’t actively use Twitter and live under a rock with regard to the news, I’m aware of Elon Musk’s ‘hostile takeover ‘.

This buying of Twitter seems like a rich man buying up the whole neighbourhood in a small town. I am not up to date on all his changes but I do know that he has sacked employees and laid down stringent rules for those who remain.

The point here is that Twitter is not a company or a business. It is a social media platform and the rules of business should not apply to it. Although there is no harm in generating profit from it, it’s purpose primarily should be for people to voice their opinions and exchange brief pieces of information. Mr. Musk needs to stop thinking of Twitter as a cash cow.
