“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
VS
“Break the mold.”
Which of these do you believe, as pertaining to your blogging?
My Thoughts:
Today’s topic applies directly to blogging and to this prompt in particular. About a year after I had begun Blogging Insights in its Q&A format, I got a little bored with it. I asked other bloggers what to do. Blogger Rory Matier came up with the answer, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
I continued with the question format a while longer since other friends on the blogosphere were enjoying it. Then, I came up with the idea of posting quotes related to blogging/ writing and discussing them. This continued for 65 posts until I yearned for the old format again.
I have decided to make this prompt “free style”. This probably means that I’m not “breaking the mold”, I’m just trying to tweak it here and there.
What about you? Do you like to leave things as they are if they are working fine? Or do you like change?
Frankly, it depends, sometimes one needs a quantum leap and, at others, slight changes are all that’s required.

My sentiments exactly.

I am more of the “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it .” school of thought. I don’t mind tweaks or an occasional departure from routine but as a rule I wouldn’t change something that was working well just for the sake of change.

But that is just me personally. I’m a Taurus, change is not my best friend.

How interesting !
I’m a Taurus too, but I like change. At least , in the limits of reason.

I am not a fan of change for the sake of change. That being said, if the established blog, theme, topics are getting old, they are not garnering the interest – change is a good idea.

Yes, it’s often about the right situation.

I think both things are true depending on where you are coming from. After almost 12 years of blogging, I’m pretty content where I am. I’m not getting the big numbers I used to get, but I’m posting less often and not working as hard as I did. The years have passed and other things take more of my time these days. I think it’s okay to feel comfortable with where I am.

True.
It’s all about your comfort zone, especially with personal blogging.

I figure I proved whatever there was to prove. We’ve got some interesting plans brewing, though so things might indeed change.

I always think it’s bad luck to talk about plans before they are implemented, but if this works out it will be very interesting — and fun.

I like to move things a round a little which is why I decided to have different logos for my 3TCs. I do believe in if it ain’t broke don’t fix it though.
