For today’s installment of Blogging Insights, I am going with the Q and A format.
TODAY’S QUESTIONS :
Do you write directly on a device? Are you old school, do you write on paper first?Do you re-draft? If so, how many times?
MY ANSWERS:
Do you write directly on a device? Are you old school, do you write on paper first?
When I launched my blog, my writing process was quite laborious. I would write each post in a notebook, and then type it out on my laptop in Microsoft Word. After this, I would paste the piece in WordPress before posting. Like I said before, it was laborious and time consuming.
As my familiarity with WordPress and my confidence grew, I started writing my posts directly on my laptop in the WordPress drafts. Once I learned to negotiate WordPress on my phone, I started writing directly on it. Waiting time before appointments, commute time, and even time in check out queues became writing opportunities on my phone.
Do you re-draft? If so, how many times?
In the beginning, when I wrote in a notebook and copied it onto my computer, that process was also an opportunity for editing and re-drafting. Later, writing directly on a device, I would edit and re-draft as required. These days, since I am very busy in my family life, I just do a quick check for typos.
What is your method? I would love to know.
You can drop me a line in my comments section. Better still , why not write a post of your own?
Here is mine.

Your way sounds a lot like how I began on blogging. I’d write everything in a notebook first, then type them on WP. Now I just type in the WP editor place, checking preview a lot to correct any mistakes, then hit publish. 🙂

Yes, that’s how I do it now too.
For me, it was a question of getting comfortable with the software. I’m not very tech savvy.

My blogs start as ideas in Evernote, sometimes the blog is written in Evernote. Usally I write in a iPad app called Journal then I copy/paste to WP. In WP I do my editing. SInce the blogs are written so far in the future (couple weeks anyway), I have a horrible habbit of reading and editing them. The normal post will be tweaked 25 time before it is publish. I know, I have a problem.

I tried using Evernote for a while but it wasn’t for me.
Basically, it’s whatever you find easier. The point in asking about these things is that someone might give you an idea that you find useful.

I usually write directly on iPad or iPhone but if a prompt is a long list of words or special poem structure, it’s on a legal pad first🤓

That seems practical.

I go over and over it and still fail to catch mistakes

There is a theory that it is difficult to catch all one’s own mistakes and typos while those of others are easily found.
