TODAY’S QUOTE

“Blogs are whatever we make them. Defining ‘Blog’ is a fool’s errand.” — Michael Coniff

MY THOUGHTS

According to Merriam-Webster, a blog is “a website that contains online personal reflections, comments, and often hyperlinks, videos, and photographs provided by the writer”. In this way a blog is, by definition a piece of content that is whatever a writer makes it. This makes today’s quote a bit of an oxy-moron.

What do you think? I would love to know.

  1. You can no more define “blog” than define “photo.” They are both a medium, they both have content decided upon by the author or photagrapher and both can be intrupted in a variety of ways by the consumer of the content. You as the consumer of this content, decides how you view, consume, or intrupt this content. A blog as well as a photo can belong to a genre, but that still does nto define it. Personally, why waste time defining it, enjoy it.

  2. My blog is definitely whatever I feel like doing. It used to be primarily on the crazy things the animals around the farm have done, with the occasional odd thoughts about writing. Currently it’s mostly short stories, but that could so easily change again.

      1. My partner encouraged me to blog about writing to help promote my work, but soon agreed that that wasn’t going to happen. 🙂
Psychotic chickens, troublesome sheep, feral cats and careless djinni are far more fun.
