Blogging Insights # 59 — Your Blogging Personna

TODAY’S QUESTION:

Is your blogging personality the same as your real life personality? If not , how is blogging you different from real you , and why?

MY ANSWER:

Many people blog under psuedonyms and create a whole new personality for their “blogging self”. This is akin to the online personalities that people make up for their social media accounts.

When I began to blog, I was shy of sharing details about myself but as I became more comfortable on the blogosphere, I shared my first name, my profession as well as other little details about myself.

My blogging personality is quite similar to my real life personality. ‘Real me’ likes to talk about lots of different topics and ‘Blogging me’ is the same. I try to maintain a light hearted tone and positive outlook in my daily life and I like to think that this is reflected in my writing and my blog.

Okay guys, that was my bit. Now I would love to read your views.

  1. My blogging personality is most often the part of me I keep hidden from the rest of the world, except from maybe my sister. It is where I go to try to dump the never-ending stream of anxious words and thoughts. I can’t be like that in person. I would alienate everyone.

  2. This is a great challenge, Tanya. I found you through Sadje’s post. I’m very open. I use the name of my blog, Always Write, to lend some professionality. The goal of Always Write is to promote and support hobby bloggers like myself. Even using that name, I think my personality shows. I don’t hide my real name or where I am. I respond to my readers conversationally. I’d love to feature this challenge on my blog, Tanya. Yours is an interesting challenge. https://tchistorygal.net/2020/08/18/for-the-love-of-challenges-explained/ I interview both challenge hosts and some of the participants.
