Blogging Insights — New Format # 30 — Interesting Blog

“A blog is only as interesting as the interest shown in others.”

Lee Odden.

Today’s quote is by Lee Odden, a marketing strategist, author, speaker and social media expert. What he has said here about blogging is true of any activity which involves interaction between people.

Conversation, letters and blogging , all are social interactions. The more interest you take in others, the more interesting your ideas and opinions become. Reading other blogs and taking part in conversations in the comments section is a surefire way of generating interest. Once you have your reader’s interest, the likes, comments and follows automatically follow.

What do you think?

  1. I think the interactions are a big reason why people stick at blogging.
But I have to admit, even if a blogger left a lot of comments on my site I would still only follow their site and read their posts if they were within the realms of what I would enjoy or find interesting.
There have been a couple of bloggers who seemed to comment on my posts prolifically, but when I looked at their work…my reaction was, “err….no thanks”. I appreciated the efforts they were putting in to commenting, but I did not have any wish to read the type of content they were publishing.

  2. Mm, an interesting concept, but basically true. Make your content compelling enough and others therefore will be compelled to read.
